Directions

Beaver Lakes

Leadville is located in the heart of the Colorado Rockies near the headwaters of the Arkansas River. The town itself is located at 10,200 feet. The cabin address is 196 Cougar Road in the Beaver Lakes Subdivision, 11 miles southeast of Leadville. It is two hours from west side of Denver.

Directions from Denver – Click here for printable PDF of these directions.

To get to the cabin, take I-70 west from Denver to Copper Mountain. Exit on Highway 91 south over Freemont Pass into, and through, Leadville. From the only stoplight in downtown Leadville the turnoff to the Beaver Lakes Subdivision gate is exactly 7.2 miles.

Go south out of town on Highway 24 traveling 7.2 miles to Weston Pass Road. Highway 24 will curve to the right and Weston Pass is straight-ahead with a slight curve to the left.

Stop at the gate on the left (with the white fence on either side), approximately 100 yards from the Highway 24 and Weston Pass turn-off. There is a sign that reads: “This gate to remain closed at all times pursuant to court order.” This is the correct place to enter the Beaver Lakes Subdivision.

Go through the gate. You are now on Empire Valley Road. Travel about 3 miles to Beaver Lakes Subdivision (through a second gate). Please register at the small registry booth you’ll see further down the road at the house on the left at Empire Valley and Chuker Road.

Continue through the subdivision until you come to Cougar Road on the left. Turn left and our cabin is on the left side. There is a sign at the driveway that says, “Gresham Getaway.”

Note: If you use Google Maps for directions to the cabin, it will take you to the subdivision, but not directly to the cabin (which is 196 Cougar Road). From the Google directions, which takes you to Cougar Road right by the upper lake, turn left on Cougar Road and go a couple hundred yards. Our cabin is on the left side. There is a sign at the driveway that says, “Gresham Getaway.”
